UK Military Bases to House Asylum Seekers in Bid to Terminate Hotel-Based Use
Hundreds refugee applicants may be placed in defense installations as the authorities seeks to phase out the reliance of temporary lodging.
Discussions are underway regarding the use of two sites - a facility in northern Britain and another in the south of England - for accommodation for nine hundred males.
The government leader has ordered Home Office and Defense Department officials to expedite work to identify suitable military sites.
The administration has pledged to end the use of asylum hotels, which have cost billions in funds and turned into a central issue for immigration opposition demonstrations.
Proposed Defense Facilities
Asylum seekers could be accommodated in the Cameron military facility in Highland region and Crowborough army training camp in the southern county by the conclusion of the coming month.
Manufacturing locations, temporary accommodation and previously unused facilities are also being reviewed for future accommodation.
Authorities Statements
Authoritative figures indicated that all sites would comply with wellbeing requirements.
"The government remains extremely concerned at the scale of unauthorized immigrants and asylum hotels."
"The current leadership will close every asylum hotel. Preparations are well underway, with more suitable sites being proposed to ease pressure on communities and cut refugee accommodation expenses."
Present Housing Statistics
Approximately 32 thousand asylum seekers are at this time being accommodated in temporary lodging, representing a drop from a maximum of exceeding 56,000 in last year.
A newly released analysis found that substantial amounts of public funds had been "squandered" on migrant shelter.
Earlier Defense Facility Operation
Two previous defense facilities - former RAF base in southeastern England and former military base in Kent - are already being used to accommodate refugee applicants after being established under the previous administration.
The administration head remarked on the situation, stating: "I am determined to shut down each temporary accommodation facility. Words cannot describe how troubled and alarmed the administration feels that we face a situation as substantial as this by the previous administration."
